Description: The Great Bustard is one of the largest species of European bird. Male Great Bustards are also the heaviest of all flying birds. The Great Bustard Otis tarda inhabits open, flat or slightly undulating, usually treeless cereal farmland. During display, males turn up their wings and tail to show their pure white ventral parts. This is how they try to attract females for mating. |
